Britannica International School - Budapest, Hungary

Britannica International School Budapest, established in 1993, was the first British style curriculum, secondary school in Hungary. The school became a member of the Orbital Education group of schools in 2008. Today we are a thriving school for students aged from 9 to 18 years old, with plans to incorporate a full primary section with children from age 5 in September 2010. We are registered with the Ministry of Education and Culture in Hungary and we are a provisional member of the Council of International Schools.

Britannica International School Budapest provides a broad and balanced education based upon the English National Curriculum with additions and modifications to reflect its international location and diverse student body. Between the ages of 14 and 16, students study courses leading to the University of Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) awards. In the final two years of schooling for students aged 16 to 18 years, Cambridge Advanced Level (A ' level) courses are offered. Passes in the A Level diplomas are welcomed by universities around the world as a gold standard entry qualification. Britannica has gained a well-established reputation for academic excellence, with graduating students going to prestigious universities around the world including recently to the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and Imperial College in London.

Britannica has a lively, friendly and truly international atmosphere. Our students are open-minded, confident and motivated. Our teachers are enthusiastic and experienced professionals who are from the UK, USA, Canada, France, Hungary and elsewhere. The language of communication throughout the school is English, with English as an Additional Language programmes for new learners. Many extra-curricular activities, including sports, excursions and cultural activities are offered. With small class sizes (generally under 20), our teachers are able to give a high level of individual attention, allowing every student the opportunity to achieve her or his full potential. 

In September 2010 Britannica will open in new larger premises in the prestigious District XII in the Buda Hills. The new site will include high quality facilities including a purpose built music suite and a 300+ seat theatre; excellent sports facilities include an indoor heated pool; tennis courts and a full sized gymnasium.
