Opened in September 2006 in response to Moscow's growing demand for international schools of outstanding quality, the English International School, Moscow provides British style education for expatriate and local students aged 3 to 18 years.. The school enjoys a purpose built, spacious and well equipped campus in the green and calm suburb of Novogrireevo, just 17 minutes by Metro from the city centre. Thanks to our extensive transport network, we attract students from all over this vast city. Despite our rapid growth, we have not lost our reputation for having a truly family atmosphere and we are an established and respected part of Moscow's educational scene.
We have adapted the well respected English National Curriculum to meet the needs of our international community. We cater for all ages from our thriving Early Years and Foundation Stage departments up to students aged 18 years.
We offer two globally accepted and recognised British qualifications in a wide range of subjects: the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for 14 ' 16 year old students and Advanced (A) Level (University entrance) for 16 ' 18 year old students.
Our students come from over 40 countries and are the children of parents working in embassies, international companies, broadcasting companies, financial institutions and family businesses. This rich diversity and breadth of experience is a real strength of the school and a joy to experience.
The working language of the school is English. Students for whom this is a new language soon pick up their new tongue through immersion and with focussed extra tuition. Russian is taught to all and French is introduced from age 7. We have a full computer suite and all classrooms are fitted with interactive whiteboards, which brings the excitement and stimulation of technology directly into the classroom environment. Art, drama and music are integral to our curriculum and we believe fully in a strong physical education programme for all. This includes snow sports when appropriate, swimming, and even cricket! Regular fixtures are enjoyed with our neighbouring schools and there is a flourishing commitment to the local community. We have currently over 60 children receiving individual music tuition on a wide variety of instruments. Our summer school is always a popular and well attended event on the Moscow summer calendar.
There are regular educational visits to local parks, to the centre of Moscow with its unique culture and heritage sites and also trips further afield to, for example, St Petersburg, the Alps and Kyiv.
We are managed by education experts based in the UK who are very experienced in the management of English and international schools and who visit us on a regular basis to monitor the quality of teaching and learning in the school.
