The British International Kindergarten

The British International Kindergarten - Seocho Campus, Seoul, South Korea

The British International Kindergarten, Seoul opened its Seocho campus in September 2007. As with the Hannam campus, this was also a brand new, purpose built Kindergarten. Our international school provides a British style education for children from the Korean and expatriate communities who are aged from 2 years to 7 years of age. The school is ideally located in an attractive district of Seoul and is close to the famous Arts centre.

The curriculum is based very much on the well respected British curriculum for Early Years, Foundation Stage and Key Stage One children (ages 2 to 7 years) with its emphasis of the main areas of developmental learning for young children but this is also modified to meet the needs of the young children who are learning English as a second (or sometimes third) language. As well as preparing children for an understanding and appreciation of the world at large, the school also teaches the values, good manners, appropriate behaviour, courtesy, confidence and respect.

At the British International Kindergarten, we also appreciate the value of enhancing the curriculum experiences for young children with extra curricular activities such as creative activities, music and choir, drama, cooking and physical education activities including golf. We also make full use of opportunities available in the local community such as visits to the theatre, Seoul Forest, the Police Station and other areas of interest which would support the children's learning. Artist, authors, doctors, vets and other community members are frequent visitors to our school where they enrich the children's learning by talking about the work they do.

The building is distinctive due not only to its functionality but also due to its innovation and creative beauty. There are bright, airy classrooms which for Reception, Year One and Year Two classes are all equipped with computers and interactive whiteboards which children use to enrich and support their learning. There is also a large hall, soft play room, music room, library, medical room and roof garden.

The Headmistress is an Early Years specialist with over 30 years experience and she leads an team of exceptional teachers suitably qualified for teaching children in this age range.
